PHEOCHROMOCYTOMA OF THE URINARY BLADDER
One of the rarest tumors involving the urinary bladder is the pheochromocytoma. A case of pheochromocytoma of the urinary bladder in a young female suffering from headache and cystitis for many years is reported. Twenty-four hour urine VMA was normal. The patient was never hypertensive except during surgical manipulation of the tumor. Biopsy of the bladder resulted in massive hemorrhage.
متن کاملElectrical stimulation of smooth muscle strips from the urinary bladder of the pig.
Strips of smooth muscle from pig urinary bladders were electrically stimulated to contract. Stimulation parameters and conditions were optimized so as to obtain a maximum number of isometric contractions with maximal force. It was found that the contractions could be described mathematically by a simple model. In the model there is a constant probability for cells to pass from the non-contracti...
متن کاملElectrical stimulation for the treatment of urinary incontinence.
OBJECTIVES To describe the rationale for the use of electrical stimulation (ES) for the treatment of urinary incontinence, and to summarize the results of clinical studies assessing these techniques. METHODS The effect of ES on the lower urinary tract (LUT) is explained, and the literature on clinical application of this technique is reviewed. RESULTS The use of ES is aimed at altering LUT ...
متن کاملTransvaginal electrical stimulation in the treatment of urinary incontinence.
OBJECTIVE To determine the effectiveness of transvaginal electrical stimulation (TES) in treating urinary incontinence, and to assess the clinical improvement 6 months after ending the treatment. PATIENTS AND METHODS In a double-blind randomized controlled clinical trial, 36 women (24 patients and 12 controls) with stress, urge or mixed urinary incontinence were chosen to use TES or placebo (...
متن کاملPassive Electrical Properties of Toad Urinary Bladder Epithelium
The electrical resistances of the transcellular and paracellular pathways across the toad urinary bladder epithelium (a typical "tight" sodium-transporting epithelium) were determined by two independent sets of electrophysiological measurements: (a) the measurement of the total transepithelial resistance, the ratio of resistance of the apical to the basal cell membrane, and cable analysis of th...
